Sika deer is an artiodactyl mammal species of the cervid family that occurs in Asia.
Originally from the islands of Japan, the Sika deer (Cervus sika nippon), which is not an elaph deer, was first introduced in France in 1890 following a gift from the Mikado to the President Carnot. The animals that have reproduced in the Rambouillet Park are the origin of all the French populations generally living in closed containment.
Morphologically, it is a little smaller than the deer. It is distinguished by the traditional shape of its caducs woods which can reach eight horns.
